The next World Flight event is in the making, and currently we are preparing the ATC teams.
For those unfamiliar with this event, maybe a few words about it:
Worldflight is maybe the eldest event in VATSIM. Born out of the idea to find a nice routing for those among us,
who owns a fixed sim in their homes, World flight became an instance in VATSIM. Accompanied by a bunch of
«normal» Flight Simmers, they are starting also this year to the challenge to fly around the globe in a non-stop
24 hours one week event. The whole fun starts on:
November 4th until Nov. 11th, eight days, 24 hours a day.
What we are doing:
Within one week a good number of pilots leave Sydney for a flight around the globe. In this week, up to 40-60
aircrafts join in on nearly every hop. and with a few breaks (to fill up the birds) it goes around the globe in 45 legs.
And unbelievably some of the pilots are trying to fly all legs, the fixed sims operate with changing crews. This will
be a donation flyin, the fixed sim holders collect money for different aid orgs in their countries e.g. Australias
Flying Doctors. Further details and the participating Fixed Sim teams are aviable here:
http://www.worldflightgroup.com
This years World Flight will visit some illustrious areas: Via New Zealand we head east and see Samoa, Hawaii, Mexico,
Cuba, then the Caribbeans, over the pond to the Canaries, a circle over Eruope, then Via Iran, Pakistan up to the
Himalaya area. then via Mongolia to Russia, China, South Korea, Japan and back to Australia.
Okay, World Flight ATC:
Two teams are recruiting ATC controllers for this week. The World Flight ATC Team I is a local team controlling
from one meeting room in Sydney.
The Sydney team is controlling the shifts from roughly 2000utc to 0900utc.
Okay, for those of you not located in that beautiful city, it might be complicated to join in there.
BUT:
Team II is the World team, and this team is recruting.
World Flight ATC Team II is taking over from 0900utc to 2000 utc.
All World Flight ATC Team controllers job is to fill the gap, where local controllers are not available because of e.g. the
local time when the World Flight train is coming thru their airspace. A World Flight ATC Team member will fill the gap and
get the high traffic safe to its next destination. And those who jumped on a WF ATC position the last years, they know
what I am talking about: You would control with a more or less unknown sector file in a rarely known area with a chart
set and do your best to get the flock of aircrafts in time on their way and on the ground again. And this can be in Frankfurt,
Fidji, a country in Africa or Asia. So, again, the local ATC controllers of course have the 1st shot if they are available AND
are able to handle a real high traffic situation. Of course WF Controllers team is available to assist local ATC on free positions.
What do you need?
We are interested in a good number of great Air Traffic Controllers. It does not matter which your home vACC/ARTCC is, it surely
DOES matter that you are interested to control foreign places and are enjoying to work together with an international group.
I. Knowledge and training:
At least an S3 rating will be needed, C1 or higher will get the first shot. Further more, i will have a look at your stats to see
if you have had a high traffic situation within the last two months. Why is the limit high? Quite simple: you need to have the
ability to handle a great number of traffic within a short time and as safe as possible. Honestly, this is far away from being simple.
You’ll need the knowledge and training to control a flyin of up to 60 aircrafts as CTR, APP, TWR and GND controller. And forget
the vague «safety of normal procedures» rules. They are mainly laid out for real world traffic and that one is completely different
to a World Flight traffic situation. What is supporting your job? Of course the knowledge that pilots on that stunt have proved
that they are experts in their handcraft of flying a bird…
The ATC Team is supporting you with charts, sector files, Teamspeak (II), a forum, and if needed with a bit of training.
II. Free time on that week:
And further more, you need to have a bit time on that week. It would be fine, if you could control on at least a few shifts
in three days during that time to allow us planning. We are giving 24 hours ATC the whole event time.
Okay, none of us can control the whole week around the clock without getting unhealthy and a bit of a plague for family and
friends. Therefore, I don’t expect that a WF ATC Team member is online the whole time. But I am expecting that you have
time that week and are able to jump in shortly on an unknown position. And the more time you have, the better it is for all.
Again: you
· have to have free time on that week
· need to know how to manage a bunch of aircrafts (but believe me, after a few shifts, high traffic is becoming easier to handle).
· have a safe knowledge in English which is absolutely necessary.
· have to apply to become WF ATC Team member.
Be prepared: I might invite you to show your skills before the event in an airspace which is unknown for you… [8)]
If you are interested to join in on the World Flight team, please draw me a mail, and tell me your VATSIM ID, your current rating
and the area you are normally controlling. I will get in contact with you and tell you a bit more about the event. During the event a
TS2 service is available to coordinate control and to chill a bit during the shifts. And believe me: after a few shifts, normal ATC
traffic will become a relaxed situation for you.
Send your application to this email adress: worldflight@flyins.de Don’t forget to mention your
· VATSIM ID
· Rating
· the local area you are normally controlling,
· how much time you have in that week.
Thank you.

Расписание посмотрел. К сожалению не везде успеваю..
Готов посидеть на Петропаловске или Владивостоке. Позиция любая. Свободен с 15z

Clearance delivery. Первый контакт с ними для разрешения на вылет.
Clearance Delivery is the position that issues route clearances to aircraft, typically before they commence taxiing. These contain details of the route that the aircraft is expected to fly after departure. Clearance Delivery or, at busy airports, the Traffic Management Coordinator (TMC) will, if necessary, coordinate with the en route center and national command center or flow control to obtain releases for aircraft. Often, however, such releases are given automatically or are controlled by local agreements allowing «free-flow» departures. When weather or extremely high demand for a certain airport or airspace becomes a factor, there may be ground «stops» (or «slot delays») or re-routes may be necessary to ensure the system does not get overloaded. The primary responsibility of Clearance Delivery is to ensure that the aircraft have the proper route and slot time. This information is also coordinated with the en route center and Ground Control in order to ensure that the aircraft reaches the runway in time to meet the slot time provided by the command center. At some airports, Clearance Delivery also plans aircraft push-backs and engine starts, in which case it is known as the Ground Movement Planner (GMP): this position is particularly important at heavily congested airports to prevent taxiway and apron gridlock.
