Pulkovo Visshy Pilotazh Project — General Discussions

I’d like to tell the community here about international
education programmme Visshy Pilotazh originally based
in Pulkovo, Saint-Petersburg (North-West Russia).

First, I am answering to the remark of some poster under
nickname Dawdler who wrote in Russian that teaching personnel
for the project was picked up in the streets.
It is very offensive statement for many teachers, for example,
for me, since I have been working in our native civil
aviation for years and I do not consider myself
as being picked up from the streets, rather than chosen
for the job. So, dear Dawdler, when you want to
offend anyone look before you leap.

It is not teachers of the project mostly who have been
found in the streets, but bosses, their local Pulkovo
staff.

The students are also no piece of candy, all in all.
They are undisciplined and too arrogant.

Why are the students not disciplined and arrogant?
Because this type of attitude is very much characteristic
of their local, Pulkovo, staff.
For example, Anna Bogina, manager responsible for
organization of the teaching process in the project,
encourages it all in her students.

She never works with class attendance, she leads
you down by promising to copy your teaching materials
and then not doing so, she is a great supporter of
snitching in the groups. Usually, students are her
informers about themselves and their teachers.

Anna Bogina always rudely interferes with what
and how this or that teacher teaches (as for English,
it is absolutely out of her responsibilities to mandate
English teachers what and how to teach).

Anna Bogina does not have any clear
understanding of what to teach concerning
the English language. The students have
absolutely different specializations.
That is why a teacher of English is, practically,
like a clown, trying to give this and that and that.
There must be programmes in every subject
the students study, yet they fail to be, for
example, in English.

Anna Bogina does not discipline her students, so the people
who are going to become airport specialists do not
have almost any culture of communicating with
others even in their own, Russian, language.

No wonder a foreigner may think they are out
of the woods, because they are mostly rude and harsh,
they neglect even the simplest rules of behaviour in class,
and Anna Bogina does not work with it. The students
are very impolite sometimes, although mostly they are
in their 20-ies and 30-ies.

The aftermath is:
1. no collaborative spirit of English teaching-learning in the groups.
2. If you are a teacher, Anna Bogina will boss you around
all the time (and do not think you will have the upper hand)
3. If you are a student, you will be hardly judged according
to your progress in studies, rather than according to
your unshakable loyalty to Anna Bogina. Like in the song:
«If you’re good to Mama, Mama’s good to you…»
4. If you want to be surrounded by rude and low disciplined
colleagues then, here you are, the project is then right for you.
