AIRBUS A300-600/310 Panel for FS2002

By PAUL GOLDING

February 2003

I suppose having basically just sat on this project for the best part of a year, I need to apologise for the delay in its release ..... sorry, but time has been hard to find. While I'm at, I'll also apologise for there being no further freeware projects on the drawing board, taking this the last of a total of 13 freeware panels for 3 different versions of Flight Simulator - most of which were considered good enough to be reviewed and/or receive awards from places like Avsim and Flightsim.

The list includes:

FS98
Boeing 707
Boeing 727 versions 1 and 2
Boeing 727 EFIS
Boeing 737-200
Boeing 757
BAC 1-11
DC-10

FS2000
Airbus A310
MD 80
MD-87

FS2002
Boeing 707
BAC 1-11
Airbus A310

INSTALLATION

Unzip to your FS2002 folder.

This will have created the folder ...\FS2002\aircraft\fsfsconv\panel.pg.a310 and also place the gauge and wav files in their respective folders within FS2002.

To alias your chosen aircraft to use this panel go to the relevant aircraft folder, open its panel subfolder and then open the panel.cfg file using a text editor. Inside you will typically find something like this:

[fltsim]
alias=b737_400\panel

This needs to be edited to:

[fltsim]
alias=fsfsconv\panel.pg.a310

INFO

In updating this panel, a number of things have occurred. The default view is a pilot view and not the Microsoft sit you on the throttles type of view - though if you want to see the gear lights you can switch to a more conventional view still. Also, this version now has full 2d cockpit views.

The panel has an all newly programmed FS2002 only autopilot. The PFD (Primary Flight Display) and ND (Navigation Display) are new 'vector' style gauges ensuring a crisper display. The ND gauge mode functions are controlled by the knobs on the glareshield panel - to the left of the autopilot.

The rest I'm sure won't be too hard to figure out.

I'm releasing the project without having done all that I'd originally intended, and without a detailed description of what's included. So the fun begins with s little clicking here and there to see what happens :-)

A few things I will point out though.

To change from 'pilot' view to 'normal' view is (NUM LOCK off) SHFT+5
To save from having to do this just to access the AP and RADIO functions, a separate pop window with these items on is available using the minicon buttons on the lower left of the panel.

PROBLEMS

Unfortunately I have no time to deal with problems that may arise and would respectfully ask that you do not email me over these. Instead, I would suggest using the forums at AVSIM
http://ftp.avsim.com/cgi-bin/dcforum/dcboard.cgi?az=list&forum=DCForumID8&conf=DCConfID3

and FLIGHTSIM

For the best response, use the subject line as - problem, Paul Golding A310 panel. I'm sure you'll find answers easy to come by taking this course of action.

One thing I did notice at the last minute. The ADF freq seems to mess up when it includes .5 After being set to active, the tuned freq looses the .5 part. Don't know why this is but it' easily fixed by using the keyboard AAAA (that's key A 4 times) then +.

THE FUTURE

You may or may not know that I'm leading the team developing DREAMFLEETs 727 project. Feel free to take a look here:

The level of detail and accuracy that this release will contain, makes me embarased to own up to developing all previous projects.
