            synchronize compass if necessary
      Set and crosscheck altimeters
      Wind clock and set time if required
Speed Attitude Command System - TEST
      With the flaps in the up position:
            Press SC light on the CAT 2 system
            Check SPEED COMMAND light ON
            Airspeed flag moves over 80 knots
            Check IAS light on A/P select ON
            After test is complete airspeed flag returns to ZERO
            Check IAS light on A/P select OUT

Stab Indicators - Set IN
If necessary the VHF-NAV / DME systems can be tested as follows:
  First check for all following tests, that no ILS
frequency is selected
   
To test the VHF system:
      Set course at 180 deg
      Select VOR on RMI
      Push VOR test button
      RMI needle will move to 180 deg
      Course deviation needle will move to zero
      To - From pointer shows TO
      Nav flag will disappear until test is complete
To test ILS: (no ILS frequency select)
      Select ILS test switch UP
      GS and NAV flag will show
      GS will show UP and deviation bar LEFT
      Select ILS test switch DOWN
      GS and NAV flag will show
      GS will show DOWN and deviation bar RIGHT
      GS and NAV flag will disappear until test is complete
- Pedestal Panel
To test DME1:
      Push DME test on VHF-NAV 1
      RMI read out will be "0000"
To test DME2:
      Push DME test on VHF-NAV 2
      RMI read out will be "0000"
GPWS / STALL warning system - Check, lights OUT
      Push TEST button
      Check FAIL lights ON
To test STALL:
      Push STALL button (right mouse click)
      Check STALL FAIL light OUT
      Check STALL normal operating light ON
      Check STALL warning light (Main Panel) ON
      Check audio STALL warning is heard
      Fail light will appear again until test is complete
To test GPWS:
      Push GPWS button (right mouse click)
      Check GPWS FAIL light OUT
      Check GPWS normal operating light ON
      Check PULL-UP warning light (Main Panel) ON
      Check the words "Pull-Up" and "Glide Slope" are heard
      Fail light will appear again until test is complete
      Push TEST button
Activate warning system:

     STALL button - ON

Transponder - set STBY

      A drop in brake temperature may be observed
      during this test and the warning light will come ON

      Move throttle lever 10% or more

                the "OK" button lights ON. Push the OK button to confirm
                and begin with the engine starting procedures.

------------ START ENGINES ------------

- Overhead (or alternate Pushback) Panel
Select HP FUEL VALVE lever (appropriate engine) to START
Select engine start selector to appropriate engine and release
Check positive rotation of LP rpm and OIL pressure and TGT rising
  When TGT reaches 400 deg C or 50% HP rpm (*) is obtained
HP FUEL VALVE lever switch automatically to OPEN
  When idling rpm and TGT are stabilized
Check OIL pressure min. 16 psi, HP rpm 47 to 53%
and LP rpm 27% approximately
  (*) For warm engines (if OIL temperature is 40 deg C or higher)
300 deg C or 35% rpm.

AFTER STARTING ENGINES

Central WARNING and CAUTION system - lights OUT
        To Test:
            Press Caution light button
            Check Master warning light ON
            Check Caution light ON
   
HP FUEL VALVE levers - OPEN
Fuel press lights - OUT
Igniter light - OUT
 

The igniter light bulbs are of the neon type
and will normally continue to glow for a
short period after the ignition has stopped

APU AIR switch - OFF
 

Check bleed air pressure drops by
at least 5 psi
