3. Prerequisites for full enjoyment of “D-IBUF” in FS2004

As with all tail draggers in FS2004 rudder pedals or joysticks with separately controllable rudder (like MS Sidewinder) are almost a MUST. However, the panel of this aircraft is fitted with an invisible toe brake gauge in the bottom RH corner which can give proportional differential braking capabilities to FS2004 tail draggers not only with rudder pedals, but also with aileron control in “auto coordination” mode. Which brings us to the proper settings for full enjoyment and functionality of this aircraft:
In “Aircraft/Realism Settings” the realism slider “General” should be moved all the way to the right. However one word of caution about the p-factor and torque silders: due to still strongly - simulated propeller effects in FS2004 it is advisable to move these sliders not more than half-way, as otherwise the feel of a propeller-twin with same direction of rotation for both engines is not done justice. When not using rudder controls I advise to move the p-factor and torque silders all the way to the left, and if you are using rudder controls and can't keep the bird straight feel free to do likewise though the rudder trim can help a little. This will however more or less nullify the experience of a true turboprop feeling in FS2004...
Next check “Pilot controls aircraft lights” and “Display indicated airspeed”. Both engine related boxes in the mid right region should be unchecked. When using rudder controls uncheck the “Autorudder” box in the bottom right corner. All else in this menu adjust as you please.


When you’re done click on “OK” and step into the 2D cockpit or the virtual cockpit. I suggest using a zoom factor of 0.75 to 0.8 in VC mode as a good compromise between field of view and warping.
