About the aircraft

The Mig-21 is still used interceptor, whose beginnings is dated to half of 50's. Its simplicity, practicality and low cost operation creates that this aircraft is still used primarily in Asia and Africa. Characteristics for this plane are delta wing, very clean lines and speed above 2 M. it was initially designed for the pure air superiority role under clear weather conditions. Limitation for firsts versions (F, F-13) was missing radar equipment so it was used mainly for anti-aircraft home defence. Licence production of MiG-21 F-13 in Czechoslovakia began in 1963 at factory Aero Vodochody and during nine years there was created 195 planes of this type. From 1964 these planes replaced MiG-15 at Czechoslovakian Air Force. Era of this plane definitely ended on 26. 4. 1991
